Questions and Answers

Is it true that those taxes paid on income in the U.S. will be credited against the taxes I will pay in Canada?
Yes, if one continues to hold a residence or plans on returning to Canada, within two years after their departure. In such a case, U.S. taxes paid by a Canadian can be claimed as foreign tax credits against Canadian taxes payable. Please see your tax advisor for more information on claiming foreign tax credits.
